When he was standing alone in the middle of a forest, so many questions ran through Chaim’s mind. He was barely 21, having lost his only brother, he felt the world was closing in on him. There was no meaning to life, and his troubled existence felt empty.
There, in the solitude of the forest where he went camping with some friends, Chaim lifted his head and looked at the tall trees, wondering for the first time in his life: “Who made them? Why are they here? Why are we here?”
Chaim was so insistent on getting some answers, that he eventually cried out to God, saying: “I’m not leaving this place until I get answers! Even if I have to stay here all night!” What happened next changed Chaim’s life forever.
He felt a voice in his own heart, as though it was a part of him, saying: “Look at my Son”. Chaim, having no knowledge of the Bible, started thinking who could that “son” be. He then lifted his head and saw a vision that brought him to his knees: Chaim saw a beaten bloody man having on a huge cross, and he couldn’t bear to look at him, there was so much shame and guilt, that Chaim felt he could not look at Him. He asked God: “Why? What did he do?” To which God replied: “He did nothing. He was punished for you. He chose this for you.”
The weight of that knowledge brought Chaim to his knees right there in that forest, all alone, encountering Yeshua for the first time in his life.
In one instant he wept for his sins, while he felt himself being cleansed completely. It was the first time in his troubled life that Chaim felt a peace that truly transcends all understanding. He felt whole.
Chaim’s encounter with the Lord was so powerful and life-changing, that the man coming out of that forest was not the same man that went in. Having lived such an incredible experience with God filled Chaim with the passion to tell everyone about Yeshua. And he’s been doing just that for years, everywhere he goes, he has a special heart for people. He doesn’t see masses, he sees individuals. Chaim will pass someone on the street, sense God speaking to him to stop, and he will turn and reach out to that person. We have seen countless people getting saved through Chaim’s amazing calling. He has been faithful in carrying the message of God’s love and salvation to each person he comes in contact with. And people have been responding to Chaim, because of that special anointing.
We’re all called to be disciples and carry the gospel to this lost world, but every now and again we cross paths with very unique people that have a very special anointing and calling on their lives, and you can tell by their fruit.
Chaim and his wife, Miriam have been an amazing blessing with the people they’ve reached out to.
Miriam’s own story is quite remarkable, because as a mother of 5, for many years she spent her time at home just raising her children. It was challenging in itself because Miriam’s calling and passion to reach the lost is just as intense as Chaim’s.
She would often pray that God would send people her way because she knew she couldn’t go anywhere. “Sometimes the only place I would go to was the local playground with the kids”, Miriam says with a smile. But God isn’t limited by anything. He creates divine encounters everywhere.
Miriam met a young mother, Naomi, at a playground who wasn’t too keen on chatting to her initially. Naomi was a bit reserved, and it took a while before Miriam and she began speaking. Once that barrier was broken, something amazing happened: Naomi completely transformed after Miriam led her to Yeshua. That change was so amazing, that Naomi ended up leading one of the bigger home groups for the newly saved.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…
Matthew 28:19
That’s the great commission in action through normal people with normal lives, but with extraordinary calling leading to extraordinary results.
Recently Miriam gave birth to their 6th child — a baby girl. Their oldest son, David, is serving in the IDF, and we’re thankful for this family and their wonderful calling to reach the lost with the gospel, even as their family grows.
