Israel Celebrates Independence Day

Israel Celebrates Independence Day

“Who has ever heard of such things? Who has ever seen things like this?
Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment?
Yet no sooner is Zion in labor than she gives birth to her children.”
(Isaiah 66:8)

God promised and He fulfilled! Israel is preparing to celebrate her 69th birthday in a few days. These have been very turbulent 69 years for this young nation, and the history that preceded its establishment in 1948 was also plagued with countless obstacles. But God cannot be mocked, He promised that Israel will be born from its ashes, and it will be the first phase of its rebirth. The one that will follow will be a spiritual one.

When God brought Ezekiel in the spirit to a valley, Ezekiel saw it full of dry bones. God then gave Ezekiel one of the most powerful prophecies in the Bible. The prophecy over the dry bones of Israel.

Ezekiel 37:11-14 “Son of man, these bones are the people of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.’
Therefore prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: My people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel.
Then you, my people, will know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land.
Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and I have done it, declares the Lord.'”

Israel is alive because of God’s promises. We celebrate the miraculous rebirth of the nation of Israel 69 years ago, and as believers we fully trust God will bring the rest of the prophecy to fulfilment, which is: “…put my Spirit in you and you will live.”

That day is quickly approaching as well. So while we join the rest of the country in celebrating Israel’s 69th birthday, we also stand in faith and in prayer for Israel’s ultimate spiritual rebirth as the eyes of the nation are opened and “…all Israel shall be saved!” (Rom. 11:26)
