Very few things can prepare you for that first time you experience the fullness of Israeli summer heat.
That was the case for hundreds of families of new Ukrainian refugees who recently arrived in Israel. These groups ranged in sizes, some being larger families with many kids and others are small groups or elderly couples.
However, they all have one thing in common, they come from a very different climate. Adapting to the harsh Israeli summer is often an additional unbearable challenge to add to their already heavy burdens.
Many refugees arrived in Israel with only very few belongings and a great deal of needs. They are often housed in tiny, cramped apartments without air-conditioning even a small fan to offer some relief. During the first days and weeks in the Land, trying to find their footing, these families are focused on getting food and basic provisions. Fans are a luxury they simply cannot afford, yet desperately need. Summers in Israel can be brutal and, at times, life threatening.
We asked if you’d be willing to help, and YOU came through in a big way with your big heart. Your generosity has enabled us to fund this project and distribute dozens of fans among freshly immigrated families, to offer them some relief during their first harsh Israeli summer.
