The Holy Spirit Teaches Us

The Holy Spirit Teaches Us

I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray. As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.

1 John 2: 26-27

Key Hebrew words:
Anointing / Meshicha / מְשִׁיחָה
Anointed / Mashiach / משח
Messiah / Mashiach / משיח

In Hebrew all three of these words have the same root letters of Mem – מ, Shin – ש, Chet – ח. In Hebrew the words Anointing, Anointed and Messiah are very similar same words in structure, and it sounds similar, for example, “Mashiach Mashach oti”, “Messiah anointed me.”

We live in a time of deception, with all kinds of conspiracy theories floating around. We’re seeing protests, upheaval, and uncertainty which causes many to live in fear and doubt about what the future holds. As we see from 1 John 2: 26-27, the Bible helps us understand that there is deception out there and that satan will try to use deception to snare our hearts and defeat us.

I would like to encourage you today and show you how we can stand strong, not letting anyone or anything deceive us. Verse 27 mentions that the anointing which you have received from Him, abides in your anointing. The word for anointing in Hebrew is “meshicha.” God deposited His anointing in us through the Holy Spirit. Through the counsel and guidance of the Holy Spirit, we do not need anyone to teach us to discern between truth and lies. The Holy Spirit’s anointing will reveal it to us.

Now, it doesn’t mean that you don’t need teachers. We all need teachers according to the five-fold ministry of the church, to be edified and built up in the Word of God, but what God is reminding us of in 1 John 2: 26-27, is that we will never be without a guide or a moral compass.

The Holy Spirit guides us in all truth. And if you find yourself at a loss for words or without a clue how to approach a certain situation, set your mind and heart on the Lord and ask the Holy Spirit to teach you what to say, how to react, and how to proceed. He will never disappoint you! Hallelujah!

Prayer:
Abba Father, in the name of our Lord Jesus I ask that you would help be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and to listen when He speaks to me. Thank you for always leading me, guiding me, and keeping me safe. Thank you for the anointing that you have given me, which makes me more than a conqueror in all situations. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
