Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
אשרי עניי הרוח, כי להם מלכות השמים.
Ashrei ani’ey ha-ruach, ki lahem malkhut ha-shama’im.
Matthew 5:3
We all want the kingdom of heaven, but Yeshua said it all starts with being poor in spirit. The difference between the rich and the poor is that the rich are satisfied, but the poor acknowledge their dependence on the help of others. If we think about our spiritual life in those terms, we can ask ourselves:“Am I satisfied with my life?” “Am I satisfied with my blessings in life?” “Am I satisfied to the degree that I am no longer teachable or dependent?”
Or do you continue to be dependent, to walk with Yeshua and rely on him day by day? To be “ani’ey ruach” – poor in spirit, means to remain dependent on God, to be able to still receive, to serve, to have the ability to still be guided by God, to be teachable. That is my prayer for you; Let’s continue to walk together with God, truly “ani’ey ruach” (poor in spirit) before Him, open before the Lord, for his directions, his guidance, His revelations. Because there is always more with God, there is always more in His Kingdom. More than we want to receive – He wants to give!
