Ahavah (pronounced ah-ha-VAH) is the Hebrew word for “love”, but it’s much deeper than romantic feelings or warm emotions. In the Bible, ahavah speaks of a covenantal love, a choice, or an action. It’s the kind of love God has for His people—unshakable, selfless, and eternal.
📖 Biblical Context: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have drawn you with lovingkindness.” Jer.31:3.
🕎 Hebrew Meaning: The root of ahavah comes from the word hav (הָב), which means “to give.” At its core, love in the Biblical sense is about giving. True ahavah is not just about what we feel, but about what we give of ourselves—for the good of another. That’s the kind of love God pours out on us, and the kind we are called to walk in daily.
