Summer months usually make children’s best memories. However, in Israel, instead of enjoying fun activities and creating cherished memories, children in war-torn areas are struggling to cope with the harsh realities of conflict. The ongoing war has tragically robbed them of the opportunity to enjoy being a child as they are forced to face a reality too harsh for their young age. Stability seems a million miles away, and so does the chance for normal to return.
Over 100,000! Over one hundred thousand Israeli families have been displaced from evacuated war zones. Children are the ones suffering the most as their lives are upended by war on several fronts and threats all around. They don’t understand why they are being targeted by such hatred. They just want life back to the way it was, surrounded by laughter and friends that make the ugliness of the world disappear.
For many people, going back to school represents a return to normalcy. However, in Israel, this can be quite challenging. Many new Jewish immigrants are not only coping with the harsh reality of war in Israel but also facing the increasing cost of living. They are struggling to make ends meet and put food on the table. Finding extra in the budget for these supplies is just not possible.
