First to Zion Messianic Congregation was established in Rishon LeZion by Pastors Igor and Natalya after a calling that had been growing in their hearts for many years.
For Igor, that journey began in 2006 with a vivid dream in which he felt God calling him to move to Rishon LeZion and establish a congregation there. Natalya experienced her own confirmation of that calling, but the time to move had not yet come.
Years later, in 2014, Rishon LeZion returned strongly to their hearts as they prayed and sought God together. The following year, with the blessing and support of Pastor Israel Pochtar and Beit Hallel Congregation in Ashdod, Igor and Natalya moved to the city and began building relationships with people in their new community.
The work started simply—in their home.
They welcomed people, shared their faith, studied Scripture together, and began an Alpha Course for those wanting to explore the foundations of the Christian faith. Gradually, a small community began to form.
In 2016, the congregation took another important step when a permanent meeting place was rented and the first official service was held. Thirteen people formed that original community, with Pastor Israel joining them for the opening service.
The congregation became known as “First to Zion,” inspired by the words of Isaiah 41:27:
“I was the first to tell Zion, ‘Look! Here they are!’ I gave to Jerusalem a messenger of good news.”
From those small beginnings, First to Zion has continued to develop as a Messianic community with a heart for Rishon LeZion and the surrounding area.
At the center of congregational life is a desire to help people know Yeshua, become grounded in Scripture, and grow into mature and active disciples. Through worship, Bible teaching, prayer, fellowship, home groups, and discipleship, people are encouraged not simply to attend services but to discover how they can serve God and others with the gifts He has given them.
Evangelism also remains an important part of the congregation’s calling. Igor and Natalya began their ministry in Rishon LeZion by meeting people personally and sharing their faith, and that same outward-looking heart continues today. The congregation seeks to equip believers to share the Good News of Yeshua naturally and confidently in their everyday lives.
Another important part of the vision is raising up future leaders. First to Zion desires to identify, disciple, and equip men and women who can teach the Word of God, care for people, lead others, and strengthen the Body of Messiah in Israel.
The words of Acts 1:8 continue to express this desire:
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…”
What began with a calling, a move to a new city, and thirteen people gathering together has grown into a local spiritual community with a vision for the future.
Our prayer is that First to Zion will continue to be a place where people encounter Yeshua, become rooted in God’s Word, discover their calling, and are equipped to carry the Good News into Rishon LeZion and beyond.
