Ashkelon is one of Israel’s most ancient cities, with a history stretching back thousands of years. Archaeological discoveries have uncovered some of the oldest known city gates in the world, offering a remarkable glimpse into the land of the Bible and the generations who have walked here before us.
Today, Ashkelon is a growing coastal city and home to families from many different backgrounds, including many new immigrants who have made Israel their home. Yet life here has also carried unique challenges. Because of its proximity to the Gaza Strip, Ashkelon has experienced years of rocket and missile attacks, and the events since October 7, 2023 have left a deep mark on many families throughout the city.
It is here that Beit Hallel established a local Messianic congregation with a simple vision: to share the Good News of Yeshua, build a strong community of believers, disciple new believers, and demonstrate God’s love in practical ways.

What began as a small work has continued to grow. Through personal relationships, outreach, prayer, humanitarian assistance, and regular congregational life, we have seen people open their hearts to the Word of God and become part of a growing community of believers.
Our experience in Ashdod taught us the importance of not only reaching people with the Gospel, but walking alongside them afterward. That same heart is at the center of our work in Ashkelon. We want people to have a spiritual home where they can worship, study Scripture, pray together, receive discipleship, build relationships, and grow in their faith.
Ashkelon’s location also makes having a safe and suitable place to gather especially important. In times of conflict, access to protected space is not simply a convenience—it is an important part of caring responsibly for the families, children, elderly people, and new immigrants who are part of the congregation.
Our vision for Ashkelon continues to grow. We believe this congregation can become a strong spiritual home for believers in the city and a place from which many more people can be reached with the hope of Yeshua.
We are grateful for every life already touched and every family that has become part of this community. As we look ahead, our prayer is that the congregation in Ashkelon will continue to grow—not simply in numbers, but as a healthy, mature body of believers serving its city, caring for people in need, and faithfully sharing the love of God.
What began with a small step of faith is bearing fruit, and we believe there is still much more ahead.
