Purim Musical
Something powerful is stirring in our community here in Israel. After years of silence forced by war, our youth are once again preparing to lift their voices in worship, storytelling, and bold faith. This is more than a performance. It is evangelism through the arts, and a living declaration that even in the midst of uncertainty, faith and hope are still rising in this land.
For many years, the City of Ashdod’s Purim Musical has been produced entirely by Beit Hallel volunteers and staff—young people and adults who live the reality of Israel day by day. They know what it means to grow up with sirens, headlines, and seasons of instability, and yet they continue to choose service, creativity, and faith.
Each year, across two evenings of performances, we welcome around 500 people per night—families, soldiers, students, new immigrants, believers, seekers, and many who might never otherwise step into a congregation. In Israel, where daily life is often shaped by security concerns and constant pressure, the arts open a different kind of door. A beautiful song and a well-told story can soften even the hardest hearts.
However, for the past three years, we were unable to hold our Purim Musical. War changed everything. Rehearsals were canceled, plans were suspended, and survival took precedence over celebration. Many of our young people carried heavy emotional weight, navigating fear, loss, and uncertainty while growing up far too quickly. Yet even in that season, the vision did not die—it waited. Now, as we prepare to raise the curtain once more, this return feels deeply symbolic. It is not simply the revival of a beloved tradition; it is a testimony that life continues, faith endures, and light refuses to be silenced.
At its core, the Purim Musical carries a message of love and hope—not as abstract ideas, but as lived reality. In a nation that has walked through prolonged seasons of tension and grief, this message matters deeply. It reminds us that God’s covenant has not failed, that His purposes for Israel remain firm, and that even when His work feels hidden, deliverance is already being prepared. Through the arts, the Gospel is shared in a way that is accessible, honest, and deeply human—meeting people in the midst of their questions and weariness.
As we look ahead to these two evenings, we invite you to join with us in prayer and expectation—for Israel, for our youth, and for every heart that will sit in the audience. Pray for seeds of hope to be planted, for fear to loosen its grip, and for faith to rise again.
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you”
Isaiah 60:1
Now, as we prepare to raise the curtain again, this is more than a tradition returning. It is a testimony that faith endures, and light cannot be silenced. Your partnership is helping raise a generation that is not just performing—but proclaiming. Through prayer, preparation, and creativity, our youth are discovering that their gifts can serve God and speak hope into this nation.
Thank you for standing with us and for believing in evangelism through the arts. Together, we will continue to declare that even in challenging times, hope still speaks today. God is still writing His story in the land of Israel. It’s a story that includes you and me and the love He has given us to share.
