A Phone Call Away

Irina couldn’t sleep. She spent hours awake with her heart and mind reeling. Just before morning, finally asleep, she had a vivid dream that her new friend, Yulia, was calling her. When she woke up, she couldn’t stop thinking about the dream. Moments later, her phone rang. It indeed was Yulia.

That morning, Yulia felt a relentless prompting from the Holy Spirit to call Irina and invite her to Voice of Judah Israel’s Discipleship Bible study. She was unaware of what was going on to keep Irina awake, but God knew. In her obedience to the Holy Spirit, she made the phone call that would change everything.

Behind the Scenes
Irina has been living in Israel for nine years while her husband has been for 23. Yulia, one of VOJI’s team members, had shared Yeshua with the couple and invited them to services at Beit Hallel. They were content with their surface-level knowledge of God. Yulia didn’t know if her words made a difference, so she continued a friendship focused on showing them love by her actions and praying for the couple. When nothing seemed to change, she trusted God was working behind the scenes. She followed the Lord’s promptings, including that phone call.

Divine Calling
Thanks to Yulia following that nudge, Irina knew from her dream and timing of her friend’s call that God was speaking to her heart. After many invitations, she and her husband finally accepted it to attend the Bible study. The Lord’s timing was right in their first study, too, as they were eager participants. They didn’t just sit quietly in the background like they maybe would have initially. Instead, they were deeply engaged, asked questions and desired to learn more. Before leaving, they resolved they’d be back for the next study.

Sharing the Gospel is not just about the words in the Bible. So many surrender to the Messiah through the way God works in the lives of those around them. Developing friendships and faithful praying opens the doors for God to work His miracles in His perfect timing.
