A Sacred Pause

“I’ve felt so isolated and exhausted. I need this connection with others who understand the weight of ministry.” This was the resounding sentiment from attendees at Voice of Judah Israel’s recent pastoral retreat in Cyprus. Our ministry, Beit Hallel, led the charge to host this event for pastors from across Israel.

During our retreat you helped sponsor, pastors from across Israel gathered for several days of worship, fellowship and learning. It was not only a time to gain practical tools for their own ministries, but also an opportunity for much needed spiritual renewal. The leaders shared meals and prayed for one another in the unity that comes from being part of the body of Christ. The heartfelt admission of needing this time with other leaders reaffirmed for our ministry the importance of this retreat. More than a mere training event, it was much needed rejuvenation from the Holy Spirit for pastors who pour out of themselves endlessly with little being poured into them.

A Time for Rest
Pastoring in Israel perhaps more than ever is such an intense responsibility. Israeli pastors carry the unique role of shepherding God’s people in the very land were so much Biblical history unfolded. For most, it’s not their only role either. Many juggle outside full-time jobs as well. It is a life marked by devotion and sacrifice, but even the most faithful servants of the Lord need times of refreshing.

With your partnership in sending these ministry leaders to the retreat, you helped 

them live out an important Biblical principle: REST. “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” Matthew 11:28.  Without your help, these pastors wouldn’t have been able to take this vital command from the Lord and bring it to fruition. You gave these ministry leaders a much-needed “sacred pause”, as so many described the retreat. By investing in them, they are now better refreshed and equipped to return to the churches God has entrusted to them for spiritual leadership.

A Time to Invest
One pastor remarked, “I feel like I’m leaving with new wine — ready to go back and pour into my congregation with a full heart.” Another shared how the retreat brought healing to his spirit, enabling him to reconnect with the joy of his calling. By supporting VOJI, particularly this event during war time, you are investing in the Kingdom, empowering pastors to continue proclaiming the Gospel, advancing God’s Kingdom and shepherding His people. With your continued partnership, we will be ready for the next opportunity the Lord shows us.
