When Nadia and two young, orphaned women arrived in Israel, they carried little more than hope and the desire for a fresh start. They had made the prophetic journey of Aliyah from Ukraine in the midst of war—tired, uncertain, but determined to rebuild their lives. Nadia had become a mother figure to the young women, caring for them as if they were her own daughters.
During Voice of Judah Israel’s recent gathering in Jerusalem, one of our evangelists, Chaim, sat with Nadia and 22-year-old Miriam as they listened to a message of hope. After the meeting, the two lingered, hungry for something deeper. Their openness set the stage for an encounter none of them expected.
A Moment of Honesty
As Chaim spoke with Nadia, she shared how she supports the young women—writing them encouraging cards and speaking words of comfort to help them believe in a brighter future. Chaim turned to Miriam and gently asked if these gestures made a difference.
“They help,” she admitted softly. “They help me think more positively.”
Her honesty opened a door.
Chaim began sharing his own story—how a real encounter with the living God transformed his life, restored what was broken, and gave him a calling beyond anything he had imagined. He told Miriam that the same God who met him was near to her as well, ready to meet her heart in the very same way. When their conversation ended, he invited them to the prayer room. To his surprise, Miriam agreed.
A Moment of Presence
Inside the quiet room, Chaim began explaining salvation and faith in Yeshua. As he spoke, Nadia—the one everyone else looked to for strength—interrupted gently.
“I’ve never prayed this prayer either,” she said. “Can I pray, too?”
The three joined hands and prayed a prayer of repentance out loud. As they did, the peace of God filled the room. Nadia and Miriam didn’t rush to leave. They lingered, resting in the unmistakable presence of God—just as Chaim had described from his own encounter.
He encouraged them to speak to Yeshua in their own words and to open their hearts to Him daily. Then he placed a Bible in each of their hands, marking the beginning of a brand-new journey.
Two precious lives, once displaced and uncertain, are now held securely in the hands of the One who sees, hears, and restores. Glory to God for Miriam and Nadia. He is already writing their future.
