Ahavah (אַהֲבָה): God’s Everlasting Love

Ahavah (pronounced ah-ha-VAH) is the Hebrew word for “love”, but it’s much deeper than romantic feelings or warm emotions. In the Bible, ahavah speaks of a covenantal love, a choice, or an action. It’s the kind of love God has for His people—unshakable, selfless, and eternal.

📖
Biblical Context:
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have drawn you with lovingkindness.” Jer.31:3.

🕎
Hebrew Meaning:
The root of ahavah comes from the word hav (הָב), which means “to give.” At its core, love in the Biblical sense is about giving. True ahavah is not just about what we feel, but about what we give of ourselves—for the good of another. That’s the kind of love God pours out on us, and the kind we are called to walk in daily.

 Application:
God’s ahavah is active. He loved us first, and He loves us still—not because we earned it, but because it’s who He is. When we receive that love, it transforms how we live. We begin to love not just those who are easy to love, but even our enemies—just as Yeshua taught us. In a world that’s growing colder and more divided, ahavah is what sets us apart as His disciples.

🙏
A Prayer for You:
May you be rooted and grounded in the ahavah of God. May His love fill every empty space in your heart, overflow into your relationships, and empower you to walk in grace and truth. And may you always remember—you are deeply, eternally loved.
