From a New Homeland to New Life in Messiah —
Valeri and Tamara’s Testimony

Sometimes the greatest changes in our lives arrive when we least expect them.

When Valeri and Tamara left Belarus and made Aliyah to Israel, they knew they were beginning a new chapter. Like many Jewish immigrants, they arrived carrying hopes for the future while also facing the challenges that come with starting over in a new country. New surroundings, a new language, unfamiliar systems, and the uncertainty of rebuilding life from the ground up all stood before them.

What they could not have known was that God was preparing something far greater than a geographical relocation.

Valeri spent most of his life as a naval officer in Belarus and eventually retired as a captain. He was a man accustomed to structure, discipline, and self-reliance. Faith was never part of his worldview. By his own admission, he considered himself an atheist and had little interest in spiritual matters.

Soon after arriving in Israel, Valeri and Tamara connected with another Jewish immigrant couple from Belarus, Elena and Alex, who had become part of the Beit Hallel family. As their friendship developed, Elena and Alex invited them to attend a small home fellowship gathering.

It seemed like a simple invitation between friends.

But God often works through simple invitations.

As the evening unfolded, Valeri and Tamara listened to believers share how God had changed their lives. They heard testimonies of answered prayer, forgiveness, healing, and restored relationships. They listened to Scripture and watched ordinary people speak openly about their faith in Yeshua.

Something began happening inside both of them.

For Valeri, the experience was deeply personal. Years of skepticism and self-dependence suddenly collided with the reality of God’s presence and love. The man who had spent a lifetime believing faith was not for him found himself overwhelmed by something he could not explain.

Tears began to flow as he encountered the love of God in a way that felt unmistakably real.

What followed was a decision that would change both of their lives forever.

Together, Valeri and Tamara surrendered their lives to Yeshua, repented of their sins, and embraced Him as their Lord and Savior. What had begun as a move to Israel became the beginning of a completely new life in Messiah.

As Scripture reminds us:

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

2 Corinthians 5:17

Not long afterward, they joined us for a congregational service and experienced the warmth of the wider Beit Hallel community. They also visited Jerusalem for the first time, walking through the city that has played such a central role in God’s story throughout history.

Their physical journey had brought them to Israel. Their spiritual journey was now drawing them closer to the God of Israel.

Stories like this remind us that the work of the Gospel is often carried forward through relationships, hospitality, discipleship, and simple acts of friendship. Every month, new immigrants arrive in Israel carrying questions, uncertainties, and unseen burdens. Many are searching for belonging, purpose, and hope without fully realizing it.

Again and again, we witness God meeting people in those moments.

Through home groups, personal relationships, congregational life, and ongoing discipleship, hearts are being opened to the message of Yeshua. One conversation leads to another. One friendship opens a door. One invitation becomes the beginning of transformation.

Thank you for partnering with us as we continue sharing the Good News throughout Israel. Your prayers and faithful support help make these life-changing connections possible. Because of your partnership, new immigrants are finding community, hearing the Gospel, and discovering the hope that can only be found in Messiah.

And somewhere in Israel today, another simple invitation may already be preparing the way for a changed life.
