Tamar lost both her mother and brother in recent years. That heartache alone was enough to bring her to her knees, but now her father is also gravely ill. The sorrow was almost too much to bear, but Tamar’s greatest longing was not only for her own strength. The young woman also longed for her father to encounter the Savior she had just embraced.
In this sorrow and longing, Tamar encountered Voice of Judah Israel as one of sixty Israelis who joined our ministry’s Jerusalem outreach this Fall Feast season. She along with her husband recently made Aliyah from the country of Georgia. The couple, along with the group, made their way along the ancient Via Dolorosa, hearing about Yeshua’s life, death and resurrection in the very streets where He carried the cross. The history of Jerusalem seemed to press in on every side, yet what touched Tamar most was the realization that this story was not just history. It was for her, right then and there.
A Life Transformed
Later during the gathering, the group heard from our evangelist team member sharing how Yeshua transformed his life. During his testimony, something inside Tamar broke open. She hung on every word spoken. When the altar call was given, she stood with many others to pray for salvation, lifting her voice in surrender to Yeshua. For months, Tamar had attended our women’s gatherings. She took the grief of loss and illness with her and during this moment in Jerusalem, the weight finally lifted.
Through tears, she shared her heart that evening.
Together our group prayed for her family, lifting up her father’s life before the Lord and asking for peace to cover her in the days ahead. When Tamar left, she carried more than just words. She carried a light in her eyes and a prayer of salvation in her hands, determined to share it with her father. Though her circumstances had not changed, her heart had. In the middle of sorrow, she had discovered the hope of Yeshua, the One who binds up the brokenhearted and shines His light into the darkest places.
Our Important Work
Tamar’s story is a reminder of what the Gospel truly is. It’s not distant theology, but life-changing hope that meets us in our deepest pain. It is comfort for the weary, peace for the grieving and strength for those who feel they cannot go on. This is clear evidence of the importance of our ministry’s work in the Holy Land the part you play by joining us in this mission.
