Helping Carry the Burden:
Standing with Widows and Single Mothers in Israel

Some of the heaviest realities we encounter are not dramatic or visible—they are carried quietly, day after day. There are women who wake up each morning knowing that the weight of their household rests entirely on their shoulders. They carry responsibility without pause, making decisions alone, holding everything together for their children, often without anyone seeing what it costs them.

Across Israel, many widows and single mothers are living in this place. Some are navigating life after deep personal loss. Others are raising families on their own while facing financial strain, emotional exhaustion, and an uncertain future. In a time when the nation itself is under pressure, these personal burdens only become more intense.

This is where your support becomes so important.

Through our outreach, we are able to come alongside these women in practical and meaningful ways. We meet them not at a distance, but in real-life moments—when the need is immediate and cannot be postponed. A box of food becomes stability for the week. A visit becomes encouragement in a difficult season. A conversation becomes a reminder that they are not invisible.

And sometimes, that simple reminder changes everything.

The Bible makes it clear that this kind of care matters deeply to God:

“A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling”

Psalm 68:5

When we step into these situations, we are reflecting something of His nature—bringing care where there is vulnerability, and presence where there is isolation.

We saw this recently through a message we received from Amelia, a young soldier serving in the Israeli army, and her mother Marina, who is a widow. Their story carries both strength and quiet difficulty, like so many others we encounter.

She shared:

“I don’t even know how to fully say thank you. What you’ve done for us isn’t just help—it really brought warmth into our lives.

I’m serving in the army right now, and it’s something I’m proud of, but it’s also not easy. Knowing there are people who care about us and are willing to help makes it easier to keep going.

It means so much that you didn’t just help me, but also my mom. She’s a widow, and she carries so much on her own. Your support made her feel like she’s not alone anymore, and that really means everything.

You’re not just people who helped us—you’ve become part of our story. You gave us strength, and honestly, you reminded us that there is still so much good in the world. I hope one day I can give that same kind of kindness to someone else.

Thank you for your hearts, your care, and just for being there.”

Her words reflect something we see often. When someone is reached at the right time, the impact goes far beyond the immediate need. It restores a sense of dignity. It brings calm into a stressful situation. It shifts perspective—from isolation to connection, from pressure to hope.

This is why we remain committed to this work.

Every practical step we take—preparing supplies, visiting homes, taking time to listen—contributes to something greater. It builds trust. It creates relationship. It opens hearts. Over time, these moments form a foundation where deeper conversations and real transformation can take place. As Scripture reminds us,

“Let us not grow weary of doing good…”

Galatians 6:9

The results may not always be immediate, but they are lasting.

There are many more women like Marina, carrying responsibilities alone, and many more young people like Amelia, doing their best to serve and move forward under pressure. Their needs may seem simple—but the impact of meeting those needs is significant.

And this is where you are part of the story.

Your support allows us to be present in these moments—to bring practical help, to stand alongside those who are struggling, and to make sure that no one feels forgotten. What you give becomes more than provision. It becomes encouragement, stability, and a reminder that someone cares.

We invite you to continue standing with us—through prayer, through giving, and through your partnership in this work. Together, we are reaching people in ways that go beyond what we can immediately see.

Because often, the greatest difference we make is not in large, visible things—but in helping carry the weight someone was never meant to bear alone.
