In the Storm

What a gift we can give to people just being willing to walk alongside them during the trials of life. Voice of Judah Israel is doing just that with countless Israelis. We never know what someone is going through. Someone who seems to have it all, may need more than we realize. When you partner with VOJI, you play an integral part in in this mission to minister to all Israelis.

Brewing Storm
Our ministry’s follow-up team was invited by Vicky, Pastor Israel’s wife, to pray for one such couple – Alexander, who had been diagnosed with cancer, along with his wife, Lena. Our team wasn’t sure what to expect before entering their home. This couple seemed to lack nothing, which isn’t always what our team finds in Israel, where many live below the poverty lines with needs that are sky high. Among those who seem to have it all, however, there is often a deep longing for something more. At the surface, we may not realize what storms are brewing in their lives.

The couple immediately embraced the VOJI team. Lena comfortably shared their struggles but how she sensed God guiding her. Our intercessory team’s prayers had clearly already been at work in their lives. Chaim, a team member, shared a testimony about the Lord’s mercy surpassing his disillusionment with religion. The couple was captivated by his message and their hearts were opened like never before.

The team prayed for not only their physical healing, but also spiritual. Alexander and Lena prayed for repentance and salvation, placing their future in God’s hands. When

VOJI’s team shared about our small fellowship home groups, they were excited; so much so, that Lena immediately invited them to return for tea and Bible study in their home.

Season of Life
At the next meeting a few days later, God’s timing was divine for the struggling couple. A professional massage therapist joined the team to treat Lena’s severe back pain. Alexander and the rest of the team enjoyed tea, studying the Word and praying together. He shared the news from earlier in the day that his cancer is worsening. The timing for this could not be better. Lena experienced pain relief and Alexander felt comfort from the group’s care. They sensed God with them in this challenging season of life. In the midst of their storm, God is carrying them with VOJI’s team there to care for them.

Partnering with VOJI helps us provide the resources and care to couples like Alexander and Lena. Our team will continue to walk alongside this couple. In fact, Lena quickly accepted the invitation and is ready to attend worship services. God is at work in their lives as they continue to search for His truth.

Would you join us in praying for Alexander and Lena, and for the many others in Israel who are still searching? May we never grow weary in bringing the Good News to this Land, for the harvest is indeed plentiful, and the workers are few. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” Romans 1:16.
