For Israeli teens, the God of their parents became theirs during this year’s “Summer for God”. Many come from believing homes to participate in this transformative experience with our Voice of Judah Israel ministry. They took the brave leap into their personal faith journey as they learned what it means to surrender their lives as well as their futures to the Lord. The final week was filled with many adventures and breathtaking landscapes, but the most beautiful of all was seeing them have the courage to claim the Lord as their own.
A Literal Brave Leap
The week began with an unforgettable trip to Zavitan Park, located in the stunning northern region of Israel. The day started early to be filled with adventure and exploration. Everyone saw magnificent views of the Galilee hills. Along the way, our team took the youth to a large nature reserve where everyone had the opportunity to cool off in the clear, refreshing waters of a natural spring. The day took an exhilarating turn as some of the teens bravely tried cliff-jumping for the first time. Throughout the day, the camaraderie was evident as friendships deepened, trust was built and teamwork flourished. This day included a literal jump many will never forget.
The following day was centered on an important spiritual journey in Jerusalem, a city rich in history and faith. The group’s focus was the Via Dolorosa, the path believed to be walked by Yeshua during His final hours on Earth. Walking the ancient streets, teens were invited to reflect on the profound sacrifice Yeshua made for humanity. The atmosphere was filled with reverence. Leah, one of our ministry’s dedicated team leaders, shared how she surrendered her life to Yeshua during this walk several years ago during “Summer for God.” Every heart was opened in this moment to pray for their own salvation right in the heart of Jersualem. God was clearly present among the youth.
An Ending And New Beginning
Our ministry’s week progressed with creating a skit to convey the powerful message of how sin traps us, but Yeshua offers freedom with hope. The group worked together, rehearsing lines, organizing props and fine-tuning every detail to ensure their message would be clearly communicated. This was an opportunity for the young people to support one another, develop confidence, improve communication and deepen their understanding of their faith through storytelling.
The final “Summer for God” week concluded with our regular service, which took on an extra special significance as the newest members of our youth group were officially welcomed in. The evening was filled with excitement as everyone played games, sang worship songs with Pastor Ilya sharing encouraging words. The older teens gathered around the new attendees to pray over them, which symbolized both a heartfelt welcome and a commitment to journey together in faith. This deeply emotional experience marked both an ending – the close of an incredible “Summer for God” – and a new beginning for many young lives.
Jumping Into The Future With The Lord
Reflecting on this year’s “Summer for God”, the final week was about much more than just fun activities with sightseeing. It was a powerful testimony of the Lord’s faithfulness. Your partnership with VOJI makes a tremendous impact through these sacred experiences and encounters with Him. As summer ends, these youth carry treasured memories along with a renewed passion and hunger to continue growing in their walk. They’re jumping back into their communities and into their futures with a deepened, personal relationship with the Lord.
