“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Psalm 34:18
Many new immigrants arrive in Israel carrying far more than the luggage they bring with them.
Some carry memories of war. Others carry fear, grief, unanswered questions, and the emotional weight of everything they have survived. These wounds are not always visible, but they are very real.
Alina was carrying many of them.
After escaping the war in Ukraine, she and her husband began the difficult process of rebuilding their lives in Israel. Her husband had survived a devastating drone attack—a remarkable miracle—but the experience had left deep scars. His health remained fragile, and Alina was struggling beneath the weight of everything they had endured.
Then the follow-up team at Beit Hallel connected with her.
They did something simple, but deeply important: they took the time to listen.
As Alina began sharing her story, the pain she had carried quietly came to the surface. One sentence captured the depth of what she was feeling:
“I’ve been crying so much.”
In that moment, the team recognized that Alina needed more than practical encouragement. They gently asked her a question that opened the door to a much deeper conversation.
What if God had spared her husband’s life for a reason? What if the One who protected him through that terrible day was now drawing both of them closer to Himself?
The team began to share the hope of Yeshua with Alina. They spoke about the One who not only rescues us from danger, but offers forgiveness, new life, and a peace that can reach the deepest places of the human heart.
Then they prayed together.
As they prayed, Alina opened her heart to the Lord.
The tears that had carried so much fear and pain became tears of hope. When the prayer ended, Alina’s expression had changed. With quiet joy, she told the team that she knew her life would never be the same.
Before she left, the Beit Hallel follow-up team placed a Bible in her hands and invited her to join the congregation. Most importantly, they promised to stay connected with her.
Because follow-up does not end with a prayer.
It means continuing to call. Continuing to meet. Continuing to answer questions, open the Scriptures, pray together, and help a new believer take their first steps in faith.
This personal, intentional ministry is one of the ways Beit Hallel is reaching people across Israel. The follow-up team spends countless hours speaking with new immigrants and families, listening to their stories and building genuine relationships. Sometimes a phone call leads to a meeting. A meeting leads to prayer. And a simple conversation becomes the moment someone encounters the hope of Yeshua.
Alina’s story is a beautiful example.
Through Voice of Judah Israel, we are grateful to stand alongside the work of Beit Hallel and help strengthen this ministry on the ground. Your prayers and partnership help make it possible for the team to continue reaching people personally—not simply meeting practical needs, but sharing the Gospel and walking with those who are searching.
Alina arrived in Israel carrying the weight of everything she had survived.
Now she is beginning a new journey with Yeshua.
Thank you for standing with us as we help strengthen Gospel ministry in Israel. Every call, every personal meeting, every Bible given, and every prayer offered can become the beginning of a transformed life.
In God’s hands, every story can become more than survival.
