The Power of Song Would you believe that a song can win a war? Praise is one of Christians’ most effective weapons, especially when the odds seem overwhelming. The powerful act of praise and worship can actually shift perspectives and bring about victories that were once deemed impossible. Wars have been won, and prison doors have been opened just by the simple act of singing praises to the Lord. One such victory is recorded in the Old Testament book of Chronicles. When Israel came up against the three armies of Edom, Jehoshaphat commanded the Israeli army to move out against them, placing the appointed worshippers to go before them and praising the Lord. Because of this heartfelt devotion to the Lord, the enemies of Israel were defeated!
Giving Thanks “After consulting with the people, the king appointed singers to walk ahead of the army, singing to the LORD and praising him for his holy splendor. This is what they sang: “Give thanks to the LORD; his faithful love endures forever.” At the very moment they began to sing and give praise, the LORD caused the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir to start fighting among themselves.” 2 Chron 20:21-22 (NLT) “So when the army of Judah arrived at the lookout point in the wilderness, all they saw were dead bodies lying on the ground as far as they could see. Not a single one of the enemy had escaped.” 2 Chron 20:24 (NLT)
