Season of Jewish High Holidays
An opportunity to reflect God’s goodness

As the season of High Holidays approaches in Israel, we reflect more and more on the deep meaning behind the Lord’s appointed feasts that Israel will be celebrating in a few weeks.

Biblical feasts are times of families coming together, reflecting and remembering God’s goodness and mercy. Rosh Hashanah is one of the most significant feast holidays in Israel. Not only does it mark the beginning of the new Jewish year but also the start of a season of feasts that brings people close together as they share festive meals with their families.

This is why we want to ensure we leave no family without food during these holidays. It is especially important in these trying times when so many families have been affected by the raging war in Ukraine and have fled to find shelter in Israel. For most of these families, these will be the first Jewish holidays and feasts they will celebrate in the Land.

Those the Lord has rescued will return.
They will enter Zion with singing;
everlasting joy will crown their heads.
Gladness and joy will overtake them,
and sorrow and sighing will flee away.

Isaiah 51:11

Our focus during the upcoming holidays – Rosh Hashanah (Feast of Trumpets), Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement), and Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) – is to show the families who have returned to Zion the true significance of these biblical feasts, reveal God’s message of salvation, love and kindness behind what we celebrate, and why we are here to help them in a time of need.

Would you help us bring them joy, as it is written in Isaiah 51:11?

When we speak about God’s love and kindness, it is especially important to reflect that kindness during the High Holidays by showing that kindness in action. A gift as small as $50 can help us bless one family with a special and much-needed food basket for the holidays.

We’re grateful for your generous heart, loving prayers, and the care you show the people of Israel through the support of the work God has commissioned us.
