Our follow-up team recently had been meeting with a family of new Jewish immigrants from Donetsk, Ukraine. They had fled the Russian invasion of their homeland and settled in Ashkelon, our neighboring city, where we also have a congregation.
They were very interested in the Gospel and had many questions about the Way that leads to Life. The husband, Sergei, was suffering from a crippling back injury. He could neither sit nor stand without intense pain. During our most recent visit, we asked if we could pray for his healing. He and his wife agreed and said that they would appreciate our prayers.
We blessed Sergei in Jesus’ name and proclaimed the healing of Jesus over His body. Sergei then left us to rest and we continued to share the Gospel with his wife, Katya, and mother, Vera. We spoke in great depth to the pair about the Kingdom of God and then invited them to pray. We held their hands as they joined us in praying the prayer of salvation and receiving Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
We also prayed for their protection and blessing. Vera, Sergei’s mother, said that she had never felt such peace and warmth in her heart as she did just then. We also presented them with Bibles so they could spend time in the Word of God. They were very touched by our actions, promising to stay in touch and start attending our services in Ashkelon.
We will continue to meet regularly to pray with this precious family as they begin their new life and walk with their Savior. Thank you for your support and prayers for reaching the Lost!
