As the sun began to set over Jerusalem, the Feast of Shavuot (Pentecost) became a backdrop for a modern-day miracle, straight out of Scripture. Nearly 300 people gathered to hear the Gospel of Yeshua boldly proclaimed in the city of the Great King. As Pastor Israel Pochtar shared the message of salvation, hearts were opened, prayers were lifted, and many responded by turning to Yeshua and declaring faith in the God of Israel and His Messiah.
And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people… and everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Joel 2:28, 32
We are witnessing this very prophecy coming to life before our eyes today. The Jewish people who have regathered from the nations are now encountering the living Word and receiving the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, just as they did on the Day of Pentecost, some 2000 years ago.
Numerous in attendance were new olim (Jewish immigrants who had recently made Aliyah to Israel), fleeing the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Many of them still carry the trauma of war, economic hardship, and spiritual confusion. However, here in Israel, where rockets and threats remain a constant shadow near Gaza, the fire of the Gospel is burning brighter than ever.
The Power of Compassion and Evangelism
As part of the outreach event, the group explored Jerusalem with professional tour guides — walking the ancient paths of the prophets, studying the Word in both Old and New Testaments. Afterwards, they were treated to a meal at a local buffet. Behind the scenes of this humble meal, a quiet miracle unfolded. As recipients received the gift of food, some were overcome with emotion, while others discreetly tucked extra provisions into their bags as a tangible reminder that they were seen, cared for, and not forgotten. The tears of gratitude, the heartfelt prayers, and the whispers of thanksgiving that followed were a sacred testament to the power of your compassion in action.
If you offer yourself to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted one, then your light will shine in the darkness…
Isaiah 58:10
Now More Than Ever
Although these are challenging and difficult days in Israel, we can see revival on the horizon. Israeli pastors and believers are bravely taking a stand, risking everything to share the transformative message of hope and salvation through Yeshua the Messiah – the only true balm that can heal a nation. Their courageous witness is igniting a spiritual awakening, bringing light to a time of darkness. There is no greater message we can bring to Israel. And there is no greater time to bring it than now.
