Two Mothers, Two Sons, One Messiah

For months, Vladi faced a physical illness of his nervous system along with spiritual attacks that drained him. A believer and member of our Beit Hallel Congregation, he persistently fasted and prayed. However, his condition worsened to the point of slipping into a coma. Irina, his mother, didn’t know what to do as she didn’t have a personal relationship with the Lord or an understanding of the hope laid out in the Scriptures. She occasionally attended our services during holidays but lacked the knowledge of the healing power that comes from believing in the Messiah.

In the hospital, Irina was overwhelmed with fear and hopelessness. She then learned that members of our follow-up team had been by her son’s side and were praying fervently for his healing. Witnessing this act of love from people who barely even knew Vladi really stirred something in Irina’s heart. For the first time she wondered if God could intervene in her life. These near strangers believed God could perform a miracle, so maybe she should, too.

God is always ready to orchestrate divine appointments in our lives and even use hard experiences we endure to help others.

A Similar Desperation
This stirring led to her realization that she desperately needed strength beyond her own. Miriam, one of VOJI team members, shared with Irina how God’s healing power had impacted her own son’s life. Seventeen years ago, before becoming a member at Beit Hallel, her son, David had a high fever from a serious infection doctors could not pinpoint. In her own feeling of desperation, much like Irina was feeling at this moment, Miriam brought David to a local congregation. When the pastor offered to pray for David, he asked Miriam if she had accepted Yeshua as her Lord and Savior.

Much like Irina now, Miriam simply didn’t fully grasp the question initially, but her heart was stirred to the point of asking for forgiveness of her sins and for Yeshua to be her Savior. While seeking the Lord in prayer, David was miraculously healed. As Miriam recounted her testimony, she encouraged Irina that the same God who healed David could likewise heal Vladi. Irina’s heart was pierced in this moment and Miriam invited her to a similar prayer that she herself had prayed years ago.

A Similar Healing
With tears streaming down her face, Irina prayed, “Lord, I believe in you. Heal my son and strengthen my heart.” It was a simple yet sincere prayer that marked the beginning of

her own faith journey. She instantly felt a peace she had never experienced before a peace that can only come from God. The very next day, Vladi’s own miracle began to unfold. He woke up from his coma and began to recover. Irina was overwhelmed with gratitude that the Lord had healed her son! The following Friday they attended a service together at Beit Hallel. The community welcomed them with open arms and shared in this celebration of the miracle God had performed. He healed Vladi, but that wasn’t the only miracle; this crisis was used to also draw Irina to Himself.

Irina was given a Bible as a gift and has since become an active member of our congregation. Today, she and Vladi attend services regularly. God orchestrated the miracle years earlier for David with Miriam that led to this double miracle unfolding before their very eyes. God is always ready to orchestrate divine appointments in our lives and even use hard experiences we endure to help others. He may even use it to bring someone like Irina to the redeeming knowledge of the Savior. Partner with VOJI today to support those like Irina who start out on their journey of faith because of our ministry. The classes and events we offer play a vital role in continuing this sacred walk with the Messiah.
