 A Promise of Restoration

The promise of God dwelling in Jerusalem is more than just a declaration. It’s a profound source of hope and joy for believers around the world. The Hebrew word used for “dwell” in this verse is shakhanti, derived from the same root as shekhinah (the divine presence, radiant with glory and light). This is not just about proximity, but about an overwhelming sense of God’s nearness as well as his omnipresence. When the Lord declares His intent to dwell in Jerusalem, it marks a future moment of joy, restoration and divine fulfillment. This promise extends beyond the city walls of Jerusalem.

In Zechariah 2:11, the prophetic scope broadens: “Many nations shall be joined to the LORD on that day, and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you.” This paints a picture of God’s redemptive plan. While Israel holds a unique, firstborn place in His purposes, the invitation to dwell with God is extended to all nations. Through Yeshua, every country has access to this promise. Israel is at the heart, but the heartbeat of God pulses for every nation.

A Vision of Global Revival
The prophecy declared in Zechariah is not only about God’s return to His chosen city. It also encompasses what this means for the world – a time when many nations will come to know the Lord. The global revival will bring people from across the earth into His kingdom. As believers, we are called to pray for the peace in Jerusalem Psalm 122:6. When you pray for Israel, you align yourself with God’s greater mission. Your intercession is not just for you – it’s also for your own country, family and community. While Israel is central to the Lord’s promises, His plan of redemption is for all. When you stand with Israel in prayer and support, you are participating in His prophetic plan.

A Call to Action
Shout and be glad, as Zechariah urges, because the Lord is coming to dwell among His people. Pray not only for Jerusalem but for the nations. Pray for revival, for hearts to turn to Yeshua and for the glory of God to fill the earth.
