“Speak kindly to the people in Jerusalem. Tell them that their time of trouble has now finished. Their punishment has been enough. The Lord has made them pay for their sins. He has made them pay twice.” – Isaiah 40:2

God has called spiritual intercessors to be Watchmen on the Walls in the heart of Israel – Jerusalem. While this has always been on God’s heart as in the Bible in Isaiah 62, this practice is as critically necessary today as when it was written.

I have posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth. – Isaiah 62:6-7

In a recent visit, Pastor Arnie from Florida, walked the streets of Jerusalem with Pastor Israel Pochtar from Voice of Judah Israel/Beit Hallel Congregations. The watchmen in Jerusalem have safeguarded the city’s historical sites and artifacts and serve as custodians of the past, ensuring its preservation and appreciation by all who visit. Even though the streets are now rather vacant with the absence of tourists, Pastor Arnie discussed the current relevance of the passages in the book of Isaiah.

“The Lord commands us to speak kindly to the heart of Jerusalem,” He said. “When I think about my own family, what is the heartbeat of our family?

What moves our heart IS our family. When God tells us to speak kindly to the heart of Jerusalem, He’s talking about His people!”

With the evils of the war instigated by Hamas, the people in Israel have a great need for intercessory prayer warriors. Families and homes are broken apart and His people in this Holy Land need His hope and comfort. Through the Bible, God is calling on Christian friends to love Israelis and pray on their behalf, but also to speak up about what is happening there. Much of the world has moved on from Oct. 7, but Isaiah 62 reminds us of the continuous need to pray and to stand up for Israel.

For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until her righteousness shines out brightly,
and her salvation as a blazing torch. – Isaiah 62:1

“Let’s continue to pray that God will lead us to more people to be His mouth, His loving kindness, His hands and blessings,” Pastor Israel said.
You can be a watchman for Jerusalem wherever you are. Our friends in Israel covet intercessory prayer warriors like you. Our prayers have an eternal impact on those who don’t know the love of Yeshua but need Him during this time in history. Please commit to praying and know any financial gifts help VOJI be the hands and feet of Jesus when they need us most.

They will know Him by our love.
