For most children, the first day of school is simply another milestone in growing up.
For hundreds of Jewish children arriving in Israel this summer, it marks the beginning of an entirely new life.
Many have left behind everything they once called home. Their families have immigrated from countries where war, uncertainty, or growing antisemitism made the future increasingly difficult. Now they are starting over in the land God promised to their forefathers, learning a new language, adjusting to a new culture, and building a future from the ground up.
For followers of Jesus, moments like these carry a special significance. Throughout Scripture, God promised that He would gather His people from the nations and bring them back to their own land. Today, we have the privilege of watching that promise unfold—not as a distant prophecy, but as a living reality before our eyes.
At Voice of Judah Israel, we believe standing with Israel means more than observing God’s work from a distance. It means serving the people He is bringing home. That is why our From Exile to Israel Project exists.
Every backpack we place into a child’s hands is a practical expression of God’s love. Filled with school supplies and accompanied by a voucher for additional educational necessities, it helps remove a significant burden from families who are rebuilding their lives. Just as importantly, it communicates a simple but powerful message: “Welcome home. You are loved. You are not alone.”
This year, we are trusting the Lord to equip 350 newly arrived children for their first school year in Israel. For many parents, providing even the basic supplies their children need is a real challenge. After leaving behind homes, jobs, and familiar surroundings, every expense matters. A backpack may seem like a small gift, but for these families it represents encouragement, dignity, and hope at a time when they need it most.
The prophet Ezekiel recorded God’s promise:
“I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries and bring you into your own land.”
Ezekiel 36:24
Every time we welcome another Jewish family home, we are reminded that God always keeps His promises. While only He can bring His people back to the land, He graciously invites His people to participate by serving those who are making that journey. What a privilege it is to demonstrate the love of the Messiah during such a significant moment in a family’s life.
